8335 roster rhs 040627 135444709 viewsNelson Point, Ex Southern Pacific SD40T-2 loco 8335 serial 786175-9 built in April 1979 and retired by Union Pacific 23rd May 2001, this unit was purchased as a spares source for the other SD40 style units. The T signifies that it is a Tunnel motor with a modified radiator intake to allow 'cool' running through the Sierra Nevada tunnels. And the 'M' with a lighting rod through it meant that it was a master unit for radio controlled helpers, used in the Tehachapi mountains. 27th of June 2004.

150523 8199705 viewsNelson Point Yard, with only another month to operate, BHP Billiton CM40-8M locomotive 5666 'Taranto' is a trailing unit as the loaded rake waits to head to the car dumpers for unloading. 5666 started life as a Comeng NSW built M636 ALCo 5487 before Goninan rebuilt it in 1995 to a CM40-8MEFI as it was the first unit to trial an electronic fuel injection system. Come the 1st of July 2015 all these units were all stored.

Dash 8 units in the yard, on the 5642 with the Steel Train and 5648 with another on a rake of index waggons. The 2 km post can just be made out at the third light pole from the right.
